LATEST NEWS ! Neighbourhood Plan boundary consultation now in progress (closes 9 March 2015)
Suffolk Coastal District Council are currently consulting on our proposed Neighbourhood Plan boundary. Negotiations with SCDC have been going on for a very long time and in the intervening period Woodbridge Town Council, who were originally not intending to produce a Neighbourhood Plan, have changed their positon and as a result Woodbridge Town Council's application for a Neighbourhood Plan boundary is also out for consultation at the same time.
The details are on the SCDC website - here.
There is an overlap between our two applications. Our boundary application follows the Parish Boundary and as a result includes Seckford Heights, the Football Ground, the southern side of California and the whole of Dukes Park. The application by Woodbridge TC also includes these areas on the grounds that they are a continuation of the urban area of Woodbridge. An area can be covered by only one Neighbourhood Plan, and SCDC will make the final decision based on residents' comments and their professional judgment.
PLEASE NOTE:- THE DECISION AS TO WHICH NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN AREA YOUR HOUSE IS IN DOES NOT CHANGE THE PARISH BOUNDARY. FOR EXAMPLE IF WAS DECIDED THAT THE ABOVE ADDRESSES BE COVERED BY THE WOODBRIDGE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN, THE HOUSES WOULD STILL BE WITHIN MARTLESHAM PARISH AND LIABLE ONLY FOR MARTLESHAM PARISH COUNCIL PRECEPT, NOT THE WOODBRIDGE TOWN COUNCIL PRECEPT.
In considering your preference the following advice is from the planning portal:-
What could be considerations when deciding the boundaries of a neighbourhood area
-
- village or settlement boundaries, which could reflect areas of planned expansion
- the catchment area for walking to local services such as shops, primary schools, doctors’ surgery, parks or other facilities
- the area where formal or informal networks of community based groups operate
- the physical appearance or characteristics of the neighbourhood, for example buildings may be of a consistent scale or style
- whether the area forms all or part of a coherent estate either for businesses or residents
- whether the area is wholly or predominantly a business area
- whether infrastructure or physical features define a natural boundary, for example a major road or railway line or waterway
- the natural setting or features in an area
- the size of the population (living and working) in the area
